Ilhan Omar Attempts To Save Face

Ilhan Omar

After repeated antisemitic statements, Ilhan Omar has supported a bill that would set aside funding for education on the Holocaust. Since we are approaching election season this could be the next big fiasco with President Trump. The Left will be making an effort to paint Donald Trump as a Nazi to win the 2020 election.

Omar has been the center of attention in recent past surrounding antisemitic remarks made online. Omar made comments hinting at Jews buying American politicians along with previously stating that Jews have “hypnotized” the world. Other prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi chastised Omar for her comments.

Now, Omar has decided to become a co-sponsor of the Never Again Education Act. This act will allow the Federal government to set aside funding to support Holocaust education. The funds would be allocated to teachers to teach about important lessons gathered from the Holocaust. Another government education program that is not needed.

This comes at a very interesting point in time. We are gearing up for the 2020 election season, and the Mueller testimony turned out to be a dud. So now it might play well for the Democrats to make the connection between Trump and Nazis again. But it is not just Democrats who are siding with this bill.

Along with 168 Democrats supporting the Never Again Education Act, 67 Republicans have already jumped on board. As claimed that this bill is bi-partisan, Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) both have made statements about how antisemitism is on the rise. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) introduced the Senate version of the bill this month. Most bills that have such widespread bi-partisan support end poorly for the majority of citizens.

This bill will most likely end in some form of increased taxation, more government administration, regulation, bureaucracy, and state revenue collection. In all actuality, this seems like a push to smear any who do not agree with the bill as antisemitic. This is why Omar came on as a co-sponsor to the bill. Omar will be able to absolve herself of being antisemitic, and in turn, give her the power to label others.

In the end, this is not the Federal government’s responsibility. I can’t think of a reason, other than some nefarious ones, that would justify an idiotic policy. I find it more believable that this bill is introduced as a way to move federal money around, print more money, tax more people, grow the education industrial complex, virtue signal, leverage against Trump’s 2020 campaign, or enable slander of others who do not agree with, or vote against, the Never Again Education Act. I find any one of those scenarios to be more logical than the Federal government believing that if we set aside money for teachers to talk more about the Holocaust, then that will cause people to be less antisemitic, especially when one of the co-sponsors believes that the Jews run a secret cabal that has hypnotized the world.
