The Two Party System May Have Won, But Its Days Are Limited

The 2016 election is over.

The momentum toward individual liberty and against authoritarian rule grew rapidly. While the two party system still won elections, this is happening more and more begrudgingly. Many in the old and outdated two party system are claiming victory, however, those were not victories of the people… they were victories for the ruling class against the people. Momentum is key, and the 2016 election proved that the people are restless for representation that is in line with their beliefs, and that patience has run thin for those elected officials who act only in their selfish interests, rather than the interests of their constituents.

One undeniable result of this election: A viable third party finally exists, and was on the ballot in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia with a presidential ticket. This same third party ran candidates for governor, senator, US House, state senate, state house, commissioner, city council, and more. This party – the Libertarian Party – grew it’s vote totals by a historic margin from 2012 to 2016. Why was this possible in an environment in which the majority of Americans were still actively being shielded from the message? Because widespread public discontent exists with respect to the political situation in our country and how that affects our lives… that’s why! These messages and many more have been clearly expressed and are being heard:

First, the message that war is against the desires of most people is front and center. Governments want war. The people do not want war. Whether that war is against other people, the activities of people which affect no one but themselves, products that people want that are not sanctioned by government, or entire groups of which only a small percentage actually desires to do us harm.   Peace is the overwhelming choice of the vast majority of people. Millions of people have woken up to realize that governments are the natural enemy to peace, prosperity and individual liberty. With this recognition, millions of people are now aware that a focused plan to reduce the size and scope of government is imperative to a peaceful and prosperous nation of individuals.

Equally as important, the message that people want the ability to create prosperity for themselves and their families with the same chances as everyone else is on the front of the minds of millions. Government picks winners and losers, and millions of people have finally made this recognition. Government is not the modern day Robin Hood, as more people are finally realizing that they rob from us all and give to themselves. Government creates laws which solidify their authority at the expense of the personal and financial freedom of the people and those laws are used against the people. To government, the biggest crime is not paying government. The people are seeing this clearly, perhaps for the very first time.

Taxes, license fees, permits, fines, and so much more are created by government against the people. These attacks on the people are financed by taxes paid by the people against their consent. Many of these impositions are in violation of constitutional protections that are in place to protect the individual against tyranny. There is so much to fix, with two prime examples including civil asset forfeiture and spying on people that are not subject to a criminal investigation. Both are examples of the avoidance of due process by those sworn to uphold the Constitution. The people have begun waking from their reverie, and they do not like what they see.

People complain that the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. This is, indeed, true. This year, millions of people realized that the government is more than just a contributor to this phenomenon, they promote and sustain it. The notion that government creates a level environment of opportunity is quickly being recognized as false, and it is finally being dispelled by millions. With this awareness, the reversal of crony capitalism is finally under attack in many public circles.

People have been voting for the lesser of two evils for generations. The result of the 2016 election was that tens of millions of people were made aware that there is another way… that someone can vote for a person that does not desire to be their oppressor. Voters had the chance to support people that wanted to return their liberty… someone that they actually liked. Millions of people chose this option!

The key to actually fixing the political mess we are in as a nation is to continue this momentum. If we can do this, we will win more and more elections in the near future by creating an option for the people that they can really believe in, rather than offering up two candidates that are morally bankrupt and having to choose which one of them is likely to damage us the least.

In 2016, the victory of the people became a reality in the minds of millions. Thanks to the tireless work of so many people, we are closer than ever to defeating the stranglehold of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party on us all. In the end, the people lost this election. But did we? Liberty in the USA began hundreds of years ago, and while the ruling class has chopped away at it, the spirit of the Founding Fathers is alive in well in us all. This is just the beginning. In the short run, we did not prevail. In the long run, the establishment continued to lose their credibility and the momentum created by this realization will result in a new dawn…  after a long, dark night.

A new dawn of peace and liberty is at hand.

Keep the faith and just as the Founding Fathers did so very long ago, accept nothing less than liberty for yourself, your loved ones and your country. It wasn’t easy for the founders of this nation, but they did what they had to do and it was the right thing.

It’s not easy for us either and it is a shame that we allowed our government to blast so many holes in  the work of our founders. Try to envision the benefit of your work for your children, grandchildren and beyond, living in a more peaceful world and having the opportunity to live to their potential. If we keep up the fight we will win… it is worth the sacrifice and the effort.

I offer my most humble and profound thanks, admiration and respect to all the people who put their hearts and their souls, their sweat and their tears, their financial support and their dedication to advancing the cause of liberty in this nation. I am with you every step of the way in our endeavor of freedom and peace. I truly believe that together the people can reinstate a nation in which government of the people, by the people and for the people shall once again be the law of this land.
