Democrats Keep Giving Us More Reasons to Hate Politics – Red Dirt Liberty Report

Democrats

In 2016, the Democrats used their party rules to effectively block Bernie Sanders from winning their primary by including “Super Delegates” that are entrenched members of the establishment that block any outsiders from representing the party in presidential elections. Now, they are further protecting other incumbents of their party from outsiders by blacklisting any corporate donors that support candidates that run against the establishment

Those newly elected Democrats that successfully managed their own bids in defeating their party’s own incumbents, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others, have begun growing an opposition to such a move. Justice Democrats, a group of supporters that desire to move the direction of the Democrat Party further to the left, along with their director, Alexandria Rojas, have come to the aid of this particular cause. As the far left fights the center of the establishment within the party, the establishment is making use of whatever dirty tricks it can to block them.

While one might want to cheer when the far left gets excluded from the political conversation, it’s actually disgusting politics as usual.

When there exists a de facto duopoly of political power, especially in a country as significant as the US, this great power yields greater corruption. Even within their own political ranks, they fight themselves with the sorts of unfair practices they would wail about if they were fighting against Republicans. It’s an obvious abuse of power.

While I find myself in the uncomfortable position of being on the same side as AOC, I cannot help but to add my voice to the support of the socialists who are fighting the establishment in their own party. But I’d rather see them all bolt for the Green Party and create enough of a force there that it might inspire those in the Republican Party that are fighting their establishment to do something similar. Maybe then we would have a step toward better representation.

When problems like these occur, it is a healthy option to the public for these splits to result in growth within other political parties. It would be a wondrous occasion for the US if a great divide occurred within the duopoly that currently exists. These sorts of fights demonstrate just how bad the need is for the people to have other significant options to voice their opinions and offer better representation. While I might despise what the socialist far left has to say, I strongly support their right to have a voice.

I would like to encourage the far left to work with the right in finding those members of the opposition to bolt away from the GOP to find new options. While it may sound like an odd alliance, it’s a natural one. If both Democrats and Republicans have enough people leave all at once, then the duopoly is broken and the worries over one party gaining too much are far less. This is a movement that needs to happen. Neither the socialists nor the strong conservatives and libertarian thinkers have proper representation. It only makes sense that they band together for a common cause and leave all at once.

Is this something they would actually do? Probably not. This duopoly mindset is just too strong, and neither side trusts the other to follow through, thus giving either the Democrats or the GOP too much power if only one side has an exodus.

But someone needs to take a first step. Perhaps the Justice Democrats need to extend a hand to the Freedom Caucus as a starting point. It’s time for odd bedfellows to come together. Both sides stand to gain if they simply do something to start the conversation.
