1. Wandering around the Internet, one is met by a host of self-described Libertarians with OK ideas, but often not well thought through and a whole lot of stuff that shows woeful understanding of what the libertarian philosophy is all about.

Then, you stumble on this writing.

It’s excellent. Some of the best stuff anywhere describing what we’re all about and particularly insightful in pointing out that freedom isn’t the same as self-reliance.

I guess, about my only critique is that this isn’t “re-framing” the LP’s values. Libertarianism has always been about social tolerance, good governance, and urban empowerment.

    • Wow – thanks for the compliment. 🙂 I agree that “re-framing” might not be the best way to phrase it. We, as Libertarians, need to do a better job showing city-folk that we share many of their cultural values and that our approach can help make government more transparent and less corrupt.

  2. I feel this article is spot on. After years of bouncing back and forth between Democrat and Republican parties and never really fitting in with either party, I ran across Ron Paul. From there I learned about libertarianism and immediately felt right at home. The Libertarian message, to me, is exactly how the black community was before all this Marxist indoctrination over the last 30-40 years.

Thank you for this great article.
